What does our Community Helpers do?

  At  Luminaries Montessori Academy  was a vibrant journey through the lives and contributions of our beloved  community helpers . Through carefully curated weekly themes, our young learners explored how various professionals help keep our communities safe, healthy, educated, and thriving. Each day was filled with engaging, hands-on learning activities that nurtured creativity, curiosity, and empathy. Week 1: People Who Keep Us Safe Our learners started the month by meeting our everyday heroes— police officers, firefighters, security guards, and emergency responders . Through role-play, storytelling, and arts and crafts, children learned the importance of safety and practiced critical skills like counting, color mixing, and teamwork. Activities ranged from crawling through obstacle courses like brave firefighters to crafting their own police hats and security passes. 🦷 A Closer Look: Dentist Day in Action! (Sample Activity)

At Luminaries Montessori Academy, our community helpers theme wasn’t just about learning—it was about living the experience! One highlight was Dentist Day , a fun and informative exploration of oral health across different learning areas. 👩‍🔬 Science Time with Teacher Via & Teacher Trixie  Children began the day with a circle time song, a weather check, and a warm welcome. They were introduced to dentists through engaging pictures and a brushing video. Fast learners practiced brushing with real toothbrushes and dental models, while slow learners got hands-on help using stuffed animals. The session wrapped up with a lively review and a goodbye song. 🧮 Math Magic with Teacher Xaris & Teacher Kiesha  To keep things fun and foundational, kids chanted while counting to ten and grouped pretend teeth in toy dental models. Fast learners tackled sets of 5 and 10, while others focused on simple subtraction using visuals. Learning math became a tactile and joyful experience...
